FSI staff and guests endured the hottest day of 2005 so far to compete in the 2nd FSI Golf Invitational on Friday 17th June.  Set against the backdrop of the established Warley Park Golf Club in deepest Essex, the players kicked off the day with the texas scramble team event.  The winning team, with a score of 31.4, was led by Jim Mitchell, FSI’s Managing Director.

Following a sustenance lunch break, play resumed proper, with the 2nd FSI Golf Invitational.  Soft drinks were provided to stop the players from wilting in the 90°+ afternoon sun.  Unfortunately, sun cream was not on hand!

The winner of the Invitational was Mike Heath from Peterborough Council, who also won the ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition.  Second place went to Mans Ruda of Merrill Lynch, and third place went to John Ship of Sumitomo.  The prize for the ‘Longest Drive’ went to Dave Curran of Vertex.

Prizes were presented by Mick Dalton, Chairman of the BIFM, over dinner on the terrace.  Plenty of soft drinks were consumed, to combat the symptoms of dehydration.  It just goes to show, you can’t predict the British weather!

The 3rd FSI Golf Invitational will take place summer 2006.
